This week, we get to DIVE in to the coral reef! We will continue our study of animals and their habitats, and focus in on the coral reef. Over the next few weeks, each of the first grade rooms will transform into a habitat. Make sure you come check ours out on Leadership Day - May 20th.
Through this project, we are learning about animals' needs and adaptations, as well as honing our researching, summarizing, paraphrasing, and nonfiction writing skills. Each student will pick an animal or aspect of the reef to research and write about and share at our Leadership Day.
In math, we are working on making sums of 10 ( for example, 6+4=10 and 8+2=10), identifying and labeling fractions of a whole, and reviewing symmetry.
We are also working hard to get ready for our concert! See you this Thursday, May 5th at the high school!
