Our first week went very well! We spent our time getting to know our new "teammates", learning our classroom and school rules and procedures, and getting ourselves ready for an incredible school year! We even had a guest speaker visit our classroom and teach us all about caterpillars and butterflies. She brought us another chrysalis! Now we have 2 beautiful creatures that we get to watch transform throughout their life cycles. Yesterday, while we were at Music, one of our butterflies emerged from its chrysalis! We got to watch it stretch out its new wings and proboscis! Today, we will get to let him go in our school garden. Throughout this week, we will be learning how to find books that are a good fit for us, trying out different math tools (number lines, pattern blocks, whiteboards, etc.), and writing our first stories in 1st grade! Please remember to sign your student's planner each night and record any minutes read on the power reading charts. The books in the red baggie should go back and forth to school EVERY day! Thank you! |
